Copen, in his playable form, will be capable of copying other boss's abilities and using them himself. The trailer shows that Copen is not only able to use these abilities to attack, but also to traverse stages. In addition, he can dash into enemies to "tag" them, and then use homing missiles to destroy his targets.
The game is currently slated for release this Summer. You can check out the new trailer for the game here:
The Direct also announced that the 3DS version of the first game will be on sale 33% off until 6/1, for those who have not had the opportunity yet to play it.
UPDATE: Seems that the Japanese version of this trailer features a sneak-peek at Lumen's new design in the dialogue with Ouka. Take a look below (thanks to Jordan and Kiwi for pointing this out!). You can definitely see some "Joule" influences in Lumen's new design, especially around her eyes and hair.

UPDATE #2: Official cover art revealed! (Thanks again, Kiwi!) Hi-res version here.
UPDATE #3: Official character artwork released via Gamer.ne (and other Japanese gaming sites) for GV, Ouka and Copen, in addition to other screens:
UPDATE #4: Character profiles added. These are from the Inti Creates official website:
Gunvolt (VA: Kaito Ishikawa)
Gunvolt is an incredibly powerful adept with the ability to control lightning. He fights using a gun that fires special darts that, when locked onto an enemy, allow him to strike with pinpoint accurate electrical attacks.
The soul of a departed adept named Joule now resides within him, and with them perfectly synchronized as one, his power has been increased to its absolute utmost limits.
Still reeling from the profound loss and pain he experienced from his past battles, his chance meeting with a girl named Ouka helped him get back on his feet.
She can be a bit of an airhead sometimes, but she has a kind and gentle demeanor, and is a tremendous moral support for Gunvolt.

Ouka (VA: Reina Kondo)
Ouka is an ordinary girl with no septimal powers. Recently, she was on the wrong end of a nasty encounter with a murderous adept, and only made it out alive thanks to Gunvolt. Since that day, she has been taking shelter at Gunvolt's home.
Ouka was born into a family that runs a massive financial conglomerate, and lived by herself, hidden away from society in a large estate until the day that she crossed paths with Gunvolt.
She can be a bit of an airhead sometimes, but she has a kind and gentle demeanor, and is a tremendous moral support for Gunvolt.
Copen (VA: Kosuke Masuo)
Copen is the son a famous scientist whose research detailed the dangerous threat that adepts pose to society. To honor the dying wish of his late father, Copen fights to eradicate all adepts from the world.
While he may be a normal human without any septimal powers, his technological prowess and combat abilities exceed that of many adepts.
Since the events of the last game, Copen has completely revamped his gear. His new gear is designed for maximum mobility, which allows him to dash through the air and perform mid-air attacks like never before. He is also now accompanied by LoLo, a combat bot that aids his offense, defense, and mobility.
My friend spotted Lumen's new art in the Japanese version of the trailer when GV is talking to Ouka!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, thanks for pointing that out! Very interesting!
DeleteIt seems there will be in-stage dialogue in this game too!! That makes me happy! Also, did anyone catch Lumen/Joule in the japanese trailer?
ReplyDeleteLove Lumen/Joule's design. A perfect combination between the two now that they're one.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a perfect combination!
DeleteWhat's going on in the character art? There's Joule-Lumen near Gunvolt, but another character by Copen who looks like they took the opposite traits from Joule and Lumen. She has Joule's hair, a mixture of Joule's and Lumen's eye colors (red+blue=purple), and has a more developed body; she also has orangish-red butterfly wings of a different pattern.
ReplyDeleteDoes Joule change appearance as she pleases, alternating between two different forms?
Anyway, on Copen's side there's a maid (probably Nowa) and a young girl (bets are on her being his little sister).
The boss on the upper-left looks to be a puppeteer, and from the trailer we see him manipulating the golem also shown.
As for the blue-haired boy on GV's side, I can't help but think of him as "Not-Gino".
I'm getting a strong Merak vibe from that blue-haired boy, personally, lol. I don't know about the red butterfly girl, though. Other people I've talked to think that she's the red ball that was speaking to Copen in the new trailer, which kinda makes sense to me. I think it's logical to suspect that the characters on the left side are associated with Gunvolt (since they're in blue) and the characters on the right side are associated with Copen (since they're in red).
DeleteThe wings remind me of the Sumeragi emblem so maybe it is their new muse.
Delete"Not Gino" seems to be wearing Quill armor.
DeleteAlso unless I missed my guess the girl at the top of the picture looks like female Zonda.
Also all the broken pink shards of glass make it look like that too.
Sorry dude but I think that you most definitely missed your guess.
DeleteZonda is just about dead for sure.
Also the similarly is very vague.
Zonda!!!!!?????
DeleteI think that you might be right!!!
It has to be zonda. Notice the ace of hearts? Zonda is holding a card in the concept art for his weaponized form, and as the embodiment of lust the "ace of hearts" is obviously tbe right card for him
DeleteAlso, remember:Elise revived the other Sumeragi adepts, so presumably Zonda would have been revived as well.
Finger croossed for simultaneous release,at least in the west. Trailer looks cool.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Copen will start off with the azure striker septima because he did get Asimov's blood.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe he found an azurd striker weakness. Or maybe that is how he is controlling all his robots.
Nowa kinda looks like Moniqa.
The adept all the way to the right looks like a speed one.
I wonder which route will be canon.
Gunvolt's or Copen's.
Probably both...
DeleteMaybe but it is hard to kill the same person twice.
DeleteUnless GV has stopped killing and Copen comes in after to finish them off.
Seems like we got Flash to the right and Aquaman to the left.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it makes me wonder if these adepts are based off myth gods. The Aquaman one Poseidon, and the flash one Hermes.
DeleteWow that is really good idea and observation.
DeleteNice thought track.
I guess the hair girl could be like Medusa then.
I've taken down the seven sins
DeleteSeven gods would be awesome
These guys look Way cooler than the originals
My favorite is Mr.Pupeteer top hat
Just saw the trailer.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know why GV wasn't in god mode?
