Introducing "Tenjian," Nike" and "Nimrod" of the G7

Wow, do I have a lot of information to share today! A couple days ago, various Japanese gaming news outlets shared more new information on the bosses of Gunvolt 2. These bosses include Nike, the hair-controlling adept (whom we've seen previously), and two other newly-revealed characters named "Tenjian" and "Nimrod." You can read all the details below the jump! As always, thanks a ton to Zoram for the translations!

Introducing the “Grimwald Seven”

“Zetsureiken (Frozen Sword)” Tenjian

(VA: Watanabe Kou)

“You are so selfish… I’ll cut down your tenacity with my sword!”

He’s a Psychic with the “Super Freezing (All Freeze)” Ability, which is capable of freezing anything.
He loves four-word idiomatic expressions and uses them often. He’s the type who likes finesse. He employs 7 sharp swords like the “Circle Moon Ring”, a straight sword or a curved sword. He has a lot of knowledge as well and he’s the substantial leader of the G7.
All of his swords’ blades are at an extremely low temperature, which is even below absolute zero. Anything that touches these swords loses its molecular structure’s flexibility and is immediately severed.

“Shadow Ice Cut”
A short-ranged attack from a straight blade. The slash becomes an ice wall that remains on the field.

“Circle Moon Ring”
A long-ranged attack from two Circle Moon Rings. Their circling and special orbits will confuse the player.
“Freezing Splitting Slash”
A continuous attack that consists of an unpredictable descent, followed by a stab attack.

“Super Freezing (All Freeze)”
Tenjian’s 7th Wave (Sevens), which can instantly freeze all around him. Be careful: the frozen floor will be slippery.

“Ice Flower Snow Cut”
Tenjian’s Special Skill: he uses the All Freeze to trap the player in an ice pillar, and then smashes the ice pillar to pieces along with the player. It’s his ultimate sword skill.

Mission: “Freeze (Frozen City)”
Boss: Tenjian
Destination facility: “Frozen City”
The G7’s leader – Tenjian.
He hijacks a prominent Japanese gigantic hotel to turn it into his base, and then traps the whole city in ice.
Gunvolt and Acura intrude into the hotel from different spots in order to free the city. Despite that both warriors have a common enemy, both are in conflict with each other – is their clash inevitable?

You’ll have to make use of the icicles that suddenly appear as platforms to move forward. These icicles vanish after a while, so time your jumps to get onto the next one.

Nowa’s relief supplies. If you coat yourself in the special coating agent that this sprays, it’ll be harder to slip on the frozen floor. In Gunvolt’s case, he can use these by hacking into them.

RoRo: “Maybe he’s trying to threaten you.”
Onslaughts from Tenjian's 7th Wave (Sevens) will happen along the way. The surroundings will be instantly frozen. Some enemies’ attacks will change once the area has been frozen, so be very careful.

“Tower’s Beauty Hair Angel (Towering Blonde)” Nike
(VA: Zhenya)
“It’d seem that… the starlight… doesn’t reach you…”

She’s a psychic with the “Tangle Hair” Ability: she can control her phantasgamoric hair.
She’s an odd girl: one of her hobbies is astrology. She says that she received “a message from the stars,” and thus joined Eden. Her words are elusive.
Her fortune-telling tends to be true a lot of times. It’d seem there are a lot of Eden members that accept her oracles as divine revelations. Some worship her like an idol, but Nike herself isn’t aware of this.

“Neo Wolf”
A move in which she hardens her hair and stretches it as if it were a blade.

“See-through Bang”

A long-ranged attack in which she turns some split-off hairs into drills and shoots them towards Acura.

“Twist”
She gathers bloated hair around her, makes it spin, and then turns it into a gigantic tornado which pulls Acura toward it. She’s invincible during this attack, so focus on dodging it.

“Grunge Wave”
An attack in which she makes her hair thrust upwards from the floor.

“Entangled Blond”
Nike's Special Skill. It's a large-scale attack in which she stretches the surrounding hair and tries to capture Acura. If you get caught by the hair, that's the end for you: a lot of hair whips will strike you.

Mission “Heaven Tower (Tangled)”
Boss: Nike
Destination facility: “Heaven’s Inverted Spear”
Nike, the Psychic who controls phantasgamoric hair, has taken control of Sumeragi’s Orbital Elevator.
It’d seem that she and her men want to get research data on the Cybernetic Singing Fairy (Cyber Diva) that’s supposed to be within the orbital base.
Acura challenges the heavenly tower he’d faced in the past once again to stop Eden from getting their hands on the data.

RoRo: “Jump into the tailwind and use your dash jump!”
A gale is blowing outside of the elevator. If you jump, it’ll push you backwards.

This is an enemy that shoots special bullets capable of tying up the player. If you get tied up in mid-air, you might be tossed from the elevator.

Temporary scaffolds set up by Sumeragi for the purpose of inspecting the Orbital Elevator. When Acura, intruding into the place, touches them, they vanish after a while. You’ll have to move fast from one to another.

“The Flowing Merman” Nimrod
(VA: Ootamari Takaki)

“Small… Compare the size of what you fight for to the size of the sea: it’s
truly small!”

He’s the psychic with the “Liquid” Ability that allows him to control fluids.
He’s a bit of an odd man who loves the ocean with a passion. He joined Eden while keeping up his life's work of ocean preservation activities.
He’s a good and lively man who is endeared by a lot of his pals, but he shows no mercy towards those who oppose him.
His “Liquid” Ability is supposed to allow him to control any kind of fluid substance, yet, as a possible result of his crude personality, it’d seem that he hates controlling anything that isn’t water or seawater.

“Aqua Trident”
He plunges his trident into the ground to make an ice blade emerge from below.

“Harp Boomerang”
A move that turns his hips' harps into boomerangs to launch them.

“Splash Dash”
High-speed movement in which he generates a lot of spray. If you get pushed backwards by the spray and touch the trident, you’ll fall prey to the attack.

“Vortex Rush”
A big move that creates several water tornadoes. If Gunvolt gets trapped inside of one of these tornados, he’ll be unable to move, and will be attacked by the Harp Boomerangs.

“Hydro Zapper”
An attack in which a special electrolyte is shot at an extremely high water pressure. If you touch it, you’ll turn into Overheat state, so try to dodge it.

“Aqua Avatar”
Nimrod’s Special Skill. He and several water clones attack Gunvolt in succession. Can one properly avoid the compound attack by the clones and the real Nimrod?

Mission: “Rapids (Water)”
Boss: Nimrod
Destination facility: “Underground Water Supply”
Gunvolt gets info from Xiao that Eden members are intruding into the Underground Water Supply.
Gunvolt and his friend predict that they aim to cut off the lifelines by hijacking the Waterworks, so Gunvolt and company try to intrude into the Underground Water Supply to prevent a large-scale terrorist attack.

Large masses of pressurized water burst out from the walls. Move quickly to avoid hitting them!

These are gigantic water tornadoes triggered by Nimrod’s 7th Wave. If you touch them, they’ll drag you upwards. Use the Thunder Scales’ Hover Ring efficiently to dodge these.

Aside from being unable to use the Thunder Scales while in water, if you stay under for too long, you’ll lose HP due to suffocation.

And that wraps up this round of information! Wow, talk about a ton of interesting news! Gotta say, I'm really loving the themes of all these bosses so far. They all feel really unique and different from each other, which is great! I think that Tenjian, in particular, is gonna be my favorite boss in this game. I mean, dang, he just looks and sounds so cool...in more ways than one!
By the way...I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed the incredibly uncanny resemblance between Nike's "human" form and Monica. It's also interesting to note that Nike is located in the same area where we saw Monica last in GV1: at Sumeragi's Orbital Elevator. Very curious, huh? In the first game, however, Monica had no septimal powers, so if she is, in fact, Nike, you have to wonder how she got ahold of those new abilities. Maybe she just had them implanted into her in a lab, like Shiden/Nova? Pretty thought-provoking!

Anyway, as always, I hope you enjoyed this post!

  1. Nikkeh's english name is Desna. They said it on both JP and English twitters on accident twice before actually releasing this XD;

    1. What I find interesting is that even though we are supposedly fighting everyone with both boys...

We've only seen the Opening Stage for them continue sidebyside and now Tenjian's stage is the only one that mentions both of them in the same stage.

Theyre hiding something doing this trade off thing for screenshots and level description. Hmmmm. Related to miss 'mysterious' girl perhaps? Can she control AUs? Related to the ends of GV1???? (Bad End -> Lemme just flip that for you to a good timeline a master of illusion could do that..)

    2. No - one said both characters would play the same stages.

Remember that Skybane interviewed Takuya Aizu and Takuya mentioned that their stories would begin at common point but then go their own ways: the released mission descriptions support that statement.

So that means that GV and Acura will have 3 exclusive stages and bosses and some common stages (Opening Stage, Tenjian Stage).

So things will be like this:

      Gunvolt: Teseo, Nimroid, ???
      Acura: Nike, Gauri, ???

So we're pending 2 bosses reveals one of which is the "puppeteer" shown in the trailers fighting Acura.

    3. I'm pretty sure both boys are fighting everyone. I mean if it wasn't, how could Copen have copied Teseo's abilities? Isn't there footage of GV vs Desna, and Copen vs Teseo from the various trailers?

      Delete
    4. Yeah it'll probably be like MMX 4 with X and Zero, only a little more different.

      Delete
    5. Yeah they've showed off Copen using Teseo's lasers pretty much every chance they get. I am assuming it is something like ZX Advent myself, but GV just doesn't absorb powers and we get huge story differences instead of small. (Inti after all)

And if we ARE dealing w/ Zonda, like literally almost everyone is assuming, there you go easily explained away as a major plot point.

I for one am hoping for a big team up or a clash in the last stages. And there should be 7 bosses + Final Rush.... sooooo hm.

    6. The AU thing makes since as it is literally impossible to get the good ending without getting the bad ending.
Holy smokes Desna looks like Moniqa!
It can't be her though as she is a human and it would be almost impossible for her to get powers implanted in her as Sumeragi is the only known ones that can do that.
If so why would she become evil and join Eden?
And change her name since anyone who knows her would recognize her.
Maybe it's a twin sister and that's the reason she initially joined Quill.
Either way that resemblance is too uncanny unless Zonda is already playing tricks on us.
Desna is definitely the one I'm most interested in and I'm definitely fighting her first.

  2. I think each character have exclusive stages for theie own storyline, if you pick correct stage boss will use their special attack but not they will use "Beat Up Entremets" instead. do you remember first gameplay? that show Nike use "Beat Up Entremets" on Gunvolt... and from this news we got that her use her special attack on Acura.

and I tihnk exclusive boss are
    Gunvolt : Teseo Nimrod Puppeteer
    Acura : Nike Ghauri ???

    1. ooooh, you make a good point. I should look at the spell related to that, probs has something to do with it. I didn't even think of looking at that cause i figured it was just a change in development. Nice point out!

    2. Just watched both, they both have regular old incantations before Beatup Entrements. They are also both fighting Aqura during the incantation.

However, looking up something else: An entremets is a dish that is either a dessert or a palate-cleaning like dish between entree and desert for a fancy meal. Is our puppeteer, a chef? He kinda looks like one standing straight. o:

  3. NIMROD!
I desperately want to know the name of the genius on the translation team who got that through his boss.

    1. His name is actually related to what he does

the great-grandson of Noah: noted as a great hunter. Gen. 10:8–10.
      2.
(sometimes lowercase) a person expert in or devoted to hunting.

  4. It seems that Nike and Nimrod's names were changed in the English translation. Nike is Desna, and Nimrod is Milas.

  5. Tenjian's rocking the Azrael "I'm-gonna-use-my-coat-as-a-cape-and-ignore-the-sleaves", and he looks really cool.
These guys in general seem to have more personality and be much more sympathetic than the Sumeragi 7.
And I predicted Milas' power, at least (though it's really obvious).

Interesting observation: it would seem that Lola gains her human projection ability about half way through, because these stages show her conversation portrait as such... while the first couple revealed stages and the intro one have her in her true, spherical droid form.

    1. Inti has already stated that RoRo will have some kind of "happening/accident" at some point on the story that will allow her to gain Cyber Diva - like abilities so you're on the right track here.

      Delete
    2. I'm quite sure that RoRo obtains a Diva form after being able to parse enough data from absorbing enough of Cyan's power.

Problem is she doesnt get enough from the FairyTales since they only contain fractions of Cyan's split power and RoRo absorbs that and way more of the bosses power at the same time. I am guessing it'll be about 3, like how it cut to Zonda's stage, for a cutscene/stage.

Likewise on GV's side, Cyan is absorbing her own power back. She's hard to see in screenshots due to how small and flashy she is, but she's always behind GV and is about the size of his hand. I wonder if she'll be able to hold a slightly larger form later and they're hiding it or what.

  6. So the last two adepts are the puppeteer and the one that sorta looks like gundam deathscythe hell, which i'm looking forward to, since i want to know what his septima is.

    1. That last adept is actually a girl! That is Jibril, but im also curious since she's named for Gabriel the Angel (Jibril is Arabic for it). O:

    2. Seiyuu, plus a very feminine face, gives off the same vibe as Nike really, and they are on the Drama CD. I highly doubt her voice goes to Puppeteer really.

  7. Nimrod is a real nimrod!
He can control a whole state of matter at will.
He pretty much has a weaker but more specialized version of Nova's matter control septima.
He could literally rip the blood from a person's body or use them as a puppet as a normal human body is mostly water.
He is like a water bender or blood bender from Avatar but has infinitely more potential.
Only a nimrod would stick to the principle of only controlling water in a life one death situation.
Hopefully Copen takes full advantage of his potential when he takes his power.
Also so every member of the grimoire 7 is more powerful than any Sumeragi adept?
It says so in the profile.
    That makes no sense considering
    Zonda
    Nova
And to a lesser extent Elise and Careera.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The reason G7 are more powerful than Sumeragi's adepts are due to their Grimoires/Books, which were made for the sole purpose of increasing power, not to mention they have the power of the muse infused with them. With Elise and Carrera, while they may have a inherently powerful septima, G7's Grimoires allow them to exceed that power. The only adept off the top of my head I can think of who is likely more powerful than an Eden adept with a Grimoire is Nova, only because of how incredibly powerful his septima is.

  8. It was revealed in a tweet that Nike is 18.
    Which begs the question.
Why does she look like Moniqa?
Moniqa is 4 years older so they can't possibly be the same person.
Was it just to mess with us till the game came out?
If so then why reveal her age?
