Inti Creates Releases New Trailer for Gunvolt OVA

Inti Creates has just released a new trailer for the Azure Striker Gunvolt OVA that was announced back in July. This trailer mostly features footage that we've seen already elsewhere, but it is now accompanied by voice samples for GV, Joule/Lumen, Asimov and Nova as they'll be heard in the anime. You can give the vid a watch above! I must say, after this taste, I can't wait to hear the voice cast in action when this OVA rolls around!

The Azure Striker Gunvolt OVA will officially be releasing for Japanese audiences this Winter. The staff is as follows:

    1. I know, right?! Good thing GV2's coming out soon, or I don't know where I'd be able to channel all this hype!

  2. Eh... not trying to rain on anybody's parade, but two things.
Firstly, this is an old trailer that was shown on-stream a couple months ago.
Secondly, and this is more personal, I just don't see this turning out very good. They have a limited budget, so why try and adapt the first game? We know from a fairly recent Japanese interview that any future Gunvolt game will either take place "300 years in the future" or be "in an alternate reality"/a reboot- this feels like the perfect opportunity to explore GV's backstory and origins. Really, nobody who's not already a fan of the games will get this- a backstory anime would probably be cheaper to make while simultaneously being more interesting. But instead, it looks like we're getting an abridged version of the MUSE project phase 1.
I'm not mad, just somewhat disappointed.

    1. The 300 years into the future or alt reality for gv3 thing was a joke. He even said it would be too cold too the fans after he said that. And having beat gv2 already is was definitely something he said to throw people off.

Otherwise, i figured the OVA stuff would be little stuff we didnt get ingame similar to how we got dengeki stories. Another thing is that they plan on making it an online broadcast, ive seen other 'ova' with more episodes, which means they can come back when they can/ like too. There's also like 6 months between Cyan and the rest of the game too amd honestly the game is the Abridged version of the mission.

    2. Ah, I thought that sounded like a Megaman reference. Thank God.

    3. Oh my god, i thought something sounded familiar about that but im so dumb for not catching that. Tsuda you nerd.

    4. Well, glad to see that was a misunderstanding- having to work off of second-hand info and google translate will do things like that.

    5. Just want to cut in here to say that I know this isn't a "new" trailer in the strictest sense (like I mentioned in my post, it re-used footage that we've seen elesewhere), but I thought it was worth posting anyway because a) it features voice samples that we didn't hear in the first video, and b) it's more crisp and clear than the trailer that we saw on-stream.

    1. It doesn't look like an abridged version of Gunvolt 1 as much as it looks like a side-story of it. Based on the images, it will possibly explore how Joule and GV adjusted to living together, show us what led up to him being captured by the perverted interrogator, and what other assignments GV did for Quill both before and after he officially resigned that hasn't been covered by the short stories, Drama CDs and the like. We may also get a bit more backstory on GV's past, going by the casual and younger look GV's sporting while speaking to Asimov in the trailer.

So, it's my belief that this OVA is a side-story that's meant to further expand what happens GV and co are up behind the scenes.

And even if it is a OVA about the first game, that's also good. It could help as a promotional tool to spark more interest in the series for those who haven't bought the game yet. Either way works out well for Inti-Creates and its fanbase. And like Tavi pointed out, the OVA may be episodic.

    2. I dont think anyone translated that Inside-games interview but i'm quite sure was a joke to throw people off. I got super worried when i read it but beat the game with true end and the extra quests scene, he was trying to give a nonanswer.

'Claw is pretty amazing on its own, having a 3rd surpass it seems to be quite a feat.'
Tsuda: I wonder what to do about Morpho..
Araki: Aida does all the writing so I have no idea.
Ippo: In anycase, is GV in 3?
Tsuda: There's that too. I think we wrapped up this story up pretty well. So if you asked me what the next game's story would be, it could be a completely different world. Or set like 300 years into the future maybe. However saying something like that would be pretty cold to everyone.(laughs)'

Seems like something any writer would say imo.

I would also like to note in a different interview with Aizu, he mentioned hiring more writers and would like to make books for GV series..

    3. Oh, wow i thought that was GV talking to cyan; but now i notice he also has short(er) very messy hair and a choker around his neck while talking to Asimov there hohohoho definitely his rescue scene o: thats really new.

  4. they seperate song for Cyan and RoRo album, it mean Indigo Destiny duet version will neither in these album, then this song will be in which CD?
