Check Out the Official Gunvolt Timeline!
The Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 original soundtrack has been out for quite a while now in Japan. Those of you who have picked it up likely already know that it features a booklet full of awesome character artwork, illustrations of the world of Gunvolt 2, and more. It includes one especially fascinating thing that many of us were not expecting, though: an official Gunvolt timeline that covers all the most important events in the series leading up to Gunvolt 2. This is not your average, run-of-the-mill timeline, however. It doesn't just limit things to the games, but extents to the drama tracks, the Dengeki Nintendo short stories, the Fleeting Memories events, and even the GV1 epilogue and prologue detailed in the OST booklet! Suffice to say that Inti's taken all the starts and stops to ensure that this timeline's as thorough as possible!

Its nice to see a timeline, though I wish it was a bit more specific, like showing the amount of time between events. I'm sure Justice Rage takes place a year before ASG, since Jota says he's 18, and he's 19 in the game, but that's about it.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, now that I think about it, it is, indeed, a bit strange that there are no timestamps on the chart. Hadn't really noticed that before, but I think you're right: they certainly would've been helpful.
DeleteI would also like to know when the events of Azure Fleeting Memories take place in the timeline, especially with Season 2 in development. My headcanon assumes that it takes the story takes place parallel to ASG1's following Joule's rescue, but that's likely not the case.
DeleteOh and by that, I specifically talking about the latter events involving Rei and his sister meeting Himeshiro.
DeleteIt doesn't seem to be to scale at all. I mean, the space between GV1 and Justice Rage (1 year) is more than half as big as the space between GV1 and Asimov rescuing GV (5 years). So sadly we can't use the spaces between events to infer how long ago they were.
DeleteIf you want a couple of timemarks... I believe Tsuda said GV was 9 when he met Asimov. Shinden was 7 in the JR flashback according to the booklet. The gap between GV and Cyan start living together and where GV1 is marked is 6 months/half a year. Asimov is refer to as 'shonen' as Takefutsu but that's a large gap. (Usage of 青年'seinen' starts at like age 18-19ish even though its gender neutral)
ReplyDeleteI would like to mention i didnt translate the little description up top but it does say that the OVA story will fit in here. Like definitely the flashback of rescuing GV, what shall GV reveal to us... hm.
And that also is a good question, will that Fleeting Memories sidestory ever come up or be important other than kamizono's part here... hmmm.
Oh actually i think that was Aizu, doesnt matter my bad. But the right half of the page seems to take place within a year.(???) So if there is a gv3 someone needs to give him a birthday to 15 before that XD

Nice. I do find the joke about GV's water weakness almost meta, considering how anti-climax he is with Copen if you know to use Milas' weapon.
