The GV2 demo was also streamed via Nico Live, but unfortunately, I don't have a way to retrieve the feed since I don't have a Nico Live Premium membership (which you need to watch certain stream replays on Nico Live). Hence, I'm afraid that I can't share the footage here. If any of you other folks possess the means to retrieve it, though, I'd appreciate your sending it my way so I can feature it here!
Anyway, without further ado, here's Zoram's list of all the new GV2 info that was revealed in the event demo:
- The stage is the Orbital Elevator which was in the prequel (Skybane Note: The same place where you had to do the boss rush). Acura does say it's the 2nd time coming here.
- He also mentions "Michiru", which probably is his sister's name. RoRo and Nowa were shown speaking with Acura or to each other. Nowa does bring up that the last time Acura came, he got beaten by a Psychic and had his gun stolen [see Acura's story from Dengeki Nintendo], so there's no doubt it's the same place.
- There's a mention of the Diva Project. I couldn't read the whole text, but it'd seem someone's trying to replicate that.
- It's also the stage of that boss [from the first trailer] that can control [her] hair, but I wasn't in time to write down her name [Skybane Note: Her name is evidently "Nike", according to the report of a fan who was present at the event]. Some of the enemies seemed to revere her as a Goddess, and she used her hair to make ramps linking the walls.
- There are some platforms that are fragile and easily break apart: RoRo tells Acura that he should do some dieting, but he dryly replies it's faster to reduce the weight of the equipment. He behaves dryly all across the stage and never shows surprise.
- It was also shown that Acura has a Special Skill called "Strike Saw".
- The demo version doesn't include the boss battle, so they [Inti Creates] couldn't show it.
- Also... This demo version had a lower difficulty because you didn't lose Kudos even if you ran into an enemy or got attacked. Some of the public commented that it was like the Easy Mode that's recently been added to the Steam version. It's possible that this game might have difficulty mode selection.
- The 2 things at RoRo's sides are actually "Speaker Pods": they open and broadcast the songs. They do look like wings, but they actually aren't wings.
- The stage is titled "Heaven Tower (Tangled)."
- It's not clear whether this is the orbital elevator itself or a related building [Skybane Note: Zoram alters his previous comment here]: unless there's a contradiction between the short story and the game (short story showed Acura coming to the space station with a spaceship). Maybe the 1st time Acura mentions was when he came to retrieve his revolver stolen by Asimov.
- RoRo says she didn't know, and it'd seem she was still taking care of Michiru, Acura's sister, at the time.
- Acura uses something akin to GV's EP when doing the "Blitz Dash", and [the energy meters are] on the bottom left corner of the screen, similar to GV's Special Skill points. But these are rechargable by hitting down twice, like [the way] GV [recharges his EP].
Below is some info about what the developers explained in the meeting:
- The "claw" in the Japanese name (Azure Striker Gunvolt: Claw is the official Japanese name) is a reference to Acura's attacks, because they look like he attacks with claws.
- It'd seem there was a point in development where the name "Gunvolt Acura" was suggested, but was discarded.
- The game might be a bit more difficult than the prequel.
- Regarding the "masked man" shown last year, it seems that his design won't appear in the sequel after all. At one point, the design was going to be used for either GV or an enemy, but that idea was seemingly scrapped somewhere along the line.
- There was a point where it wasn't intended to change GV's design, but they wanted to make something that reflected the changes he underwent at the end of the first game.
- It'd seem that RoRo's addition to the game means that the amount of songs becomes about twice the amount of the previous game. And maybe some more songs will be added through DLC as well. [Skybane Note: This note especially intrigues me, as Takuya Aizu told me in my interview with him that all the songs would be the same for both main characters.]
- The "Reincarnation" song comes back in this sequel with some changes in lyrics, music, and gameplay.
And that's it! As always, hope you folks were intrigued by this info! Pretty fascinating stuff all-around!
Regarding the songs "being the same for both main characters," the way that Indigo Destiny sounds in the GV2 trailer from the Nintendo Direct does sound somewhat different from the way it sounds in the Striker Pack trailer.
ReplyDeleteIn the Striker Pack trailer, it almost sounds like there's some kind of filter that the song's been through, or like there's some kind of echo?
Maybe the songs themselves are the same, just sung by Lumen or RoRo depending on the character? Or maybe in RoRo's case, the songs are put through a filter to create a Vocaloid-y effect since she's an AI?
Or I'm crazy and just hearing things. That too is a possibility.
Lol, nah, I picked up on that, too. That thought did occur to me, but it seems strange to me that the devs should say "twice the amount of songs" if they're all just the same songs sung by different singers. I dunno, though, that might be the case just the same.
DeleteWill Inti Create release demo on nintendo eshop?
ReplyDeleteNo news about a demo at the moment, but if I hear more on that front, I'll let you know.
DeleteNo more Masked Man?!? So much for whether he's possibly related to Gunvolt or not...
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's probably the thing that surprised me the most in this new round of details. Guess we'll never know who he was, then, huh?
DeleteYeah I know. He looked really awesome too.
DeleteI guess a DLC skin is a bit too much to ask for though.
Thanks for the info! Very interesting! I'm intrigued, though... this is the first time I see the kids in Fleeting Memories as Acura/Copen and his sister, was this confirmed somewhere?
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, glad you enjoyed it! As for the kids in Fleeting Memories: no, they haven't been confirmed as Copen/Michiru, but their father is the very same Kamizono whom Nova mentioned in the game as being Copen's father, so it definitely seems that they are.
DeleteHuh? Excuse me, Skye, but...
DeleteWhere'd you get the idea that the kids in Kagerou no Memoria are Acura and his sister?
Kamizono died in the lab fire Asimov accidentally caused, it's said on Kagerou no Memoria's prologue, Justice Rage and Dengeki Nintendo.
Then, when we get introduced to the kids, we see BOTH of their parents before they are killed by that "Tsujigiri" Psychic.
At this point it's not possible for them to be the same people:
I think that those kids are unlreated to the plot, they were just to tell us how people in general behave when faced to Psychics.
I'll quote to you the part about Kamizono in Acura's profile:
"He had his misgivings about the Psychics’ danger, more than anyone else, but he died in the accident that Asimov, then a prisoner of Sumeragi, triggered."
This is more than enough evidence to say that Rei's father isn't Kamizono.
So, I'm sorry to bust down your idea, but facts are facts. Rei isn't Acura: he's unrelated.
Huh, I guess I was mistaken, then. I just got the impression Rei and Miu were his kids because Kamizono states in Part 5 that he had a son and daughter. And then, immediately in Part 6, we get introduced to Rei and Miu. You're right, though, both the kids' parents were present in Part 6, so it doesn't seem logical that Kamizono is their father.
DeleteI know, right? It's a bit confusing but if you stop to think about it, then you can realize already they're unrelated to the Kamizono family. My idea is that, at the time, the story was intended to show the world from the PoV of normal citizens, what is it like to stumble upon a berserk Psychic and all. But I guess they ran out of ideas at some point or didn't deem it relevant anymore so that's why it got abandoned like that. Pity. Just when it was getting interesting.
DeleteIt also says that their mother was born overseas but Copen's mother is the heir to the Kamizono family so that is another contradiction.
DeleteAlso judging from the time line Rei is probably 5 years older than Copen.
I wonder just where Rei and Mui fit in the Gunvolt universe as it clearly ended at a cliffhanger.
RIP masked man, we hardly new yeh.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, a bit more difficulty is welcome.
And it's not terribly surprising that Copen would be a deadpan snarker.
In a Japanese gaming news post there were some comments from the staff regarding the sequel. According to a comment by Game Director Mr. Tsuda, the masked man was indeed GV: his comment is a follow-up to the reason they decided to make a game with 2 playable characters.
ReplyDeleteQuote:
"GV, who was wearing a mask at the beginning, got upgraded to main character. As a result the volume of work in the scenario and related things doubled, and the development ended up very close to their limits."
