Dengeki Nintendo Character Profiles: Iota

Today we touch upon the Prideful Silhouette, Iota! As always, if you wish to compare this translation to the original JP text from Dengeki Nintendo, see here

Iota's Profile:

A genuine Japanese-born from a famed family that has produced excellent military soldiers for generations.

He also belonged to the Army, but in the middle of a mission to suppress terrorism by 7th Wave (Sevens) Psychics, he ended up witnessing the disastrous scene of how the Army was powerless against Psychics.

The ones who suppressed the terrorist incident were the Sumeragi Psychics Unit that Shiden belonged to.

Later, after having talked with Shiden a few times, he began to feel that he was fitting to become a general. So he resigned from the Army, alleging that a wound he’d suffered in the incident had made him lose sight, and joined Sumeragi.

He dedicated his efforts to supporting Shiden, as he tried to strengthen his position inside Sumeragi.

He makes his motto “Soldiers honor godly speed.” Due to his ability, he has a strong commitment to speed. On the other hand, he hates to hurry in drawing conclusions.

Afterglow (Light-speed):

Iota’s 7th Wave (Sevens).

It’s an ability that, apart from controlling photons to some extent, allows him to change his flesh into photons and carry out (literally) light-speed movements.

After transforming with the Sword, he can change photons into energy through the Photon Bit equipped on his back, and create beam attacks or a light-blade.
However, in order to transform himself into photons during light-speed movement, he can’t undergo any thinking and can only move to points decided beforehand. He can’t move and attack at the same time, either, which is a drawback.

Demise Light-blades (Zero Blade):
Iota’s Special Skill.

It’s an important attack that alters his needs to a quantum mechanical idea: the idea denotes that only what we observe actually exists. It acknowledges that “light” is what’s shaping the world. Iota controls that light and, by turning it into zero, he can tear the world-space itself.
It releases an enormous amount of energy, so, in addition to being hard to properly aim, Iota momentarily ends up in a fuel-lacking state after using it.

That’s why, after charging in right after the Zero Blade, the beam blades disappear and Iota's charge speed is slower as well, unlike when he uses Flash Stinger. (Skybane Note: Iota's charge does, in fact, slow down if you shoot at him rapidly after Zero Blade).

“Small-dragon Fluorescence”:

Iota’s Sword. Sumeragi retrieved a special blade from a museum which was designated as a National Treasure, and used it as the basis material for this Sword.
