Dengeki Nintendo Character Profiles: Cyan & Morpho

Continuing in my series of posts covering Dengeki Nintendo's Gunvolt profiles, here are Cyan and Morpho's character bios! Again, much thanks to Zoram for translating these very detailed descriptions!

Cyan & Morpho Profiles

Morpho

A national Virtual Idol produced by the Sumeragi Group.

She publicly is named an artificial intelligence (AI), but, in truth, she's the embodiment of Cyan’s 7th Wave (Sevens), the “Cybernetic Singing Fairy (Cyber Diva)”.

She’s got a self of her own and has a Bohemian personality, but that’s a glimpse of Cyan’s true nature.

Cyan thinks of Morpho as a different person, yet Morpho clearly acknowledges that they are the same person.

The Sumeragi Group had set Morpho to publicly be an Idol, yet, behind the scenes, they were using her as a sonar to detect other Psychics.

Her appearance is based on what Cyan would look like when she becomes 17 years old, yet it’s heavily influenced by Cyan’s own ideals and complexes, so it’s unclear whether Cyan will become just like Morpho when she becomes 17 years old or not.

The current shape of Morpho’s appearance (figure, outfit) has remained stable ever since about 1 year ago.

The outfit and the look can be controlled to some extent by Cyan-Morpho’s will.

Cyan

A 13 year old girl, the game’s heroine.

She was rescued by GV after having been imprisoned in a research facility as a test subject by the Sumeragi Group. Ever since then, she started living in the same house with GV.

She’s an artificial 7th Wave (Sevens) Psychic created through a Sumeragi experiment. She’s a rare case, even within Sumeragi, since she had the 7th Wave (Sevens) Guidance Factors implanted on her before being born: she’s a designer child.

Her 7th Wave (Sevens) is the consciousness induction ability “Cybernetic Singing Fairy (Cyber Diva)” that resonates with other Psychics’ 7th Wave (Sevens) and increases their abilities.

She’s got a pure and adult personality but she opens her heart to GV and contacts him through some extent of informal attitude.

Since she’s spent most of her life ever since her birth in a research facility, there are some aspects about society she’s unfamiliar with. Some Sumeragi researchers that sympathized with her upbringing actually provided her with some stuff, so she’s got some offset in her knowledge (she especially loved to read a poem collection she was provided with).

It’s unclear if it’s a side-effect of the experiments, but her growth was bad and she hates sports. That very fact seems to be becoming a complex to her.

Ever since she began to live with GV, she attends school and enjoys a modest routine with her friends.

Cybernetic Singing Fairy:

Cyan’s 7th Wave (Sevens), “Cybernetic Singing Fairy (Cyber Diva)" uses Morpho’s songs as a medium to interfere with other Psychics’ consciousness. It’s a consciousness induction ability.

It’s one of the derived lines of the “Electron-controlling 7th Wave (Sevens) ability” that was discovered during the process of the Thunder Psychics Mass Production Scheme, “Project Gunvolt”.

This 7th Wave (Sevens) is said to have a very close relation with a Psychic’s consciousness state, and if it’s someone who’s got Cyan-Morpho’s wavelength, it can increase their 7th Wave (Sevens) by encouraging their consciousness.

When GV gets into a dangerous state during his battles, Morpho’s song “Song of Diva” activates his abilities and bodily functions. That’s because his 7th Wave (Sevens) “Azure Thunderclap (Armed Blue)” and the “Cybernetic Singing Fairy (Cyber Diva)” have a very close nature. This is cited as the biggest reason of why that phenomenon takes place.

When Psychics listen to Morpho’s songs, Sumeragi can detect a special interference wave, so they use this power as a sonar to establish other Psychics’ locations. It’s established that a lot of Psychics were discovered through this ability, and were forcefully imprisoned by Sumeragi’s deployment unit.

A 7th Wave (Sevens) with a personality of its own is an incredibly rare case, and no other similar cases have been confirmed across history. Sumeragi scientists had expectations that it could become the key to a lot of still unknown portions of the 7th Wave (Sevens).
