Inti Creates' Love For Long-Collared Overcoats

If you've been a fan of Inti Creates for as long as I have, you may have noticed an interesting design aspect that the company has applied to their game characters rather frequently in the past decade or so: long overcoats that extend from the waist down to as low as the character's shins, and usually with a long collar--like the one that Gunvolt famously wears on missions:

In the Mega Man Zero series, we see an uncannily similar coat on Elpizo, the stand-in commander of the resistance in MMZ2:

Then we see it on Omega in Zero 3, with a few alterations (he's a huge reploid after all):

Then, in some promo art that Toru Nakayama drew for the Mega Man Zero Mythos soundtrack, which illustrates the Four Guardians and Cyber Elf X watching the fall of Ragnarok at the end of Zero 4, we see Harpuia, Fefnir, Leviathan and Phantom (who is...somehow alive again?) all donning that same coat (I like to think that's their ceremonial garb, personally):

Then, switching over to Mega Man ZX, we see it on Prairie, the Commander of the Guardians:

And then Serpent of Slither Inc.

And finally, we have some promo art drawn by Mega Man Megamix and Gigamix artist Hitoshi Ariga, which illustrates a Mega Man ZX drama track where Aile tries to get Prarie away from her work to have some fun for a change. We see the coat on Aile here, and, with its blue color, it looks a lot like a smaller version of Gunvolt's coat:

And that's it! Pretty humorous when you break 'em all down, huh? But hey, every designer has his own unique design choice. With Inafune it was the big robot feet, with Inti Creates...it's the long-collared overcoat!
