Who Was The First Azure Striker?

As you may or may not know, in the JP version of Gunvolt, the true final boss (whom we won't mention by name here to avoid spoilers) mentions something very intriguing about the origin of the Azure Strikers in his battle dialogue. According to him, the first adept with that power was discovered long ago, deep in a South American jungle. With their septima, the "Azure Strikers" were able to control electrons at will, allowing them to conjure powerful bolts of lightning to attack, and move swiftly by manipulating magnetic fields. What made their ability most important, however, was that they were able to freely control electronic devices. It was apparently the ultimate power in an age dominated by electronics.

At that time, the Sumeragi group had pushed the standard methods of generating electricity to their limits, so they started musing over the idea of using the electricity-controlling adepts as a new source of energy. Thus, research began on a way to mass-produce adepts with the electric septima. Eventually, Sumeragi replicated the gene for the electric septima and began to implement it into test subjects, a process that was known as "Project Gunvolt". Several were tested for the gene, including Sumeragi's Nova, but only two were found compatible with it in the end: Gunvolt and the true final boss.

But one thing still was never addressed. Who was the first Azure Striker? Upon first sight, it seems to be the true final boss. But then, in the dialogue, he tells GV that he was one of the few people found compatible with the electric septima gene in the "Project Gunvolt" tests. If he really were the first Azure Striker, then why would he have needed to be given a gene he already had?
So the question still seems unanswered. It would also appear that there were several "Azure Strikers" before GV and the true final boss's time, as the latter uses the plural pronouns "they" and "their" when describing the powers of the electric-wielders.

It really makes me wonder if we'll be seeing more of these mysterious Azure Strikers in future games. Hey, who knows, that strange mask-wearing character from Gunvolt 2 that Inti Creates revealed may very well be one of them! I guess only time will tell!

  1. Interesting theory, I really hope this character does wind up being the original gunvolt. And I hope they keep all the extra background stuff in. It'd make it much more interesting.

    1. Yeah, it really makes me wonder. I think it's particularly interesting how the original Azure Striker was discovered deep in a South American Jungle. Like, you can't help but think "Where did HE even come from?"

    2. I think it is a reference to mew

    3. Can't help but thinking about Blanka from Street Fighter there. Then again, Inti-Creates is formed by ex-Capcom staff anyways so it wouldn't be surprising for them to take a jab at Capcom with that.

  2. I think that it would make more sense for the project to be called project azure striker than project gunvolt

    1. Well, since this was an experiment for the electric septima gene, "Gunvolt" kinda makes more sense than "Azure Striker", I think.

    2. Well I'm pretty sure that sumeragi didn't know that ther would be a gun that would help channel the septima's powers
also it would be cruel of Asimov to name GV after the project that he was tortured and expetimented on
I think Asimov originally made a prototype of GV's gun originally for himself and then later gave the more complete one to GV
I also like to think that GV was named By Asimov after his two favorite things
      guns
      and
      electricity
I would understand it better if the project was named
      GeneVolt

  3. In light of the recent news I'm thinking that this was just the original draft of the new GV.
